It is autumn.
The earth has hardened from the summer.
A summer of heat, fire, death, rupture, icecream, holidays.
A being takes a spade.
But she does not strike.
She waits. Lays her hand on the earth.
Senses where it is ready to open.
Slowly, and very carefully, - the crust
loosens.
Beneath, somewhere, the earth is still soft.
Dark.
Full of possibilities.
She doesn't dig deep.
Only enough to let air in. So that
the hardened layers can gently loosen
from one another.
Others join her.
Bringing water. Not too much at once.
Drop by drop, until the earth can drink.
They speak little. Listen more. To what the earth needs.
To what wants to come.
Some bring compost. Old things
that have transformed. Pain that
became nourishment. Fatigue
that became rest.
They plant
nothing. Not yet.
First they create conditions. patience. attention-awareness. trust.
The earth slowly becomes soft again.
Listening …….
Considering…..Tending………….
These three practices
Listening
– Opening ourselves to what is present. Receiving without immediately reacting or judging. Creating space for others and for ourselves. Laying our hand on the earth before we act – sensing where readiness lies.
Tending
– Staying with something. Nurturing without controlling or possessing. Bringing water drop by drop, creating conditions for growth rather than forcing outcomes. Practicing patience, attention, and trust.
Considering
– Taking time for thoughtful reflection. Looking at situations from multiple perspectives. Weighing carefully before responding. Waiting until it becomes clear where the earth is ready to open, resisting the urge to strike too quickly or forcefully.
a taste- a step - a hiding road
A practise that can walk a path, moves in circles, returns on itself, adapts to what is needed.
patience attention trust
We plant
nothing.
Not yet.

Can I trust you with my emotions ?
Can I trust you with my growth ?”
